Bergamot’s editorial vision is rooted in decades of experience shaping books at the intersection of art, culture, and the natural world. The journey began with Bergamot's founder, Gail, working as an editor in Warsaw when the country transitioned from communism to democracy. Back home in the States, she was a book editor at the Smithsonian, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Geographic. This work opened the door to further collaborations with leading international conservationists, deepening Bergamot’s commitment to books that honor both artistic legacy and global stewardship.
For Rizzoli International, New York, Bergamot provided editorial services for a number of contemporary coffee table books, ranging from artist retrospectives to English country homes, and fashion and lifestyle monographs.
For museums and cultural organizations, Bergamot has edited and published high-quality illustrated books.

Visits is the story of a family going through the death of an elder member. It’s set in Pennsylvania’s “Schuylkill Valley,” a region of early German settlers who came to be known as the Pennsylvania Dutch (Dutch for Deutsch). Seen through a granddaughter’s eyes.
